What's happening at the event?

The greatest pup party of the year, that’s what! Walk & Wag participants fundraise in the months and weeks leading up to the event, then on event day we all get to celebrate your hard work with loads of family and dog-friendly games and activities, vendors and sponsors. See a previous year's itinerary and map of the activities, games, vendors and more here.

Can I bring my pets?

Yes! Friendly, on-leash dogs are welcome. We ask that dogs be up to date on all vaccinations and not in heat. Waste bags are provided for your convenience.

What if I cannot attend, but I want to raise funds for the animals?

Attendance is not required! You can still register online (as a "Cat Napper") and use the website tools to raise funds, or use a printed pledge form to raise money.

Is there a registration fee?

Yes: Your registration fee not only helps us pay for the event, but also kicks off your personal fundraising page with a bang! A $39 Walker Registration includes a Walk & Wag bandana and access to all Walk & Wag activities and contests. A $59 Runner Registration includes all of the above in addition to a Walk & Wag medal and eligibility for a dri-fit athletic t-shirt fundraising milestone. For youth under 12, there's no registration fee!

Do I have to register online?

No way! You can also download our registration form, fill it out, and either mail it or drop it off in person (along with any donations you receive) at HSHV. Mail to Attn: Walk & Wag, 3100 Cherry Hill Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48105.

How do I register for other people (e.g., my kids)?

Every individual must be registered separately, but families often form teams in order to fundraise together! Pick a "captain," click “Start a Team” or “Join a Team”, and reach your goal together. Please note: Each family member must register as an individual and have their own email. This way, everyone will receive their own milestone prizes as they fundraise, and notifications of all upcoming promotions, contest, matches and event details (need an email for your child? We suggest Zillamail or Tocomail).

How do I fundraise?

We make it easy! When you register, you'll get your very own Walk & Wag participant page that you can customize and email to family, friends, enemies, and long-lost loves -- and they can sponsor you by making donations to that page. Or, you can fundraise offline! Find fundraising tips here.

What do my fundraising dollars support?

Walk & Wag is HSHV's largest annual fundraiser, and is critical for supporting our community’s most vulnerable animals. Walk & Wag dollars fund HSHV’s lifesaving programs, including cruelty rescue, wildlife rescue, our shelter medical team, the Bountiful Bowls pet food pantry, emergency harbor, humane education, foster care, the Love Train, and much more!

Are there any kids' activities?

Of course, what would Walk & Wag be without kids?! Youth under 12 can register for FREE, participate in all event activities and contests, and earn a prize ticket for every $50 that they raise, redeemable at the Kids Prizes table at Walk & Wag! They can also have custom race bibs and run in the Kids Dash at 10:30am, which is a short sprint that ends with snacks and a special gift.
