Cooper turns 15!

Eleven years later, Cooper remains my best buddy.

When I wandered into HSHV back in the summer of 2002 on my way home from a visit with my parents, I wasn't sure I was ready to adopt a dog. I already had two wonderful cats at home and thought I might not be prepared for the added responsibility of a dog. But when I saw Cooper laying in his kennel on his upside-down doggie bed, it was love at first sight. I filled out an application, only to find out he was a stray and he would not be up for adoption for ten days. Ten days later, I was sad to learn that no one came to claim such a cutie pie, but I was thrilled to find out I was approved for the adoption. Cooper made the two-hour drive home with me the next day.

Today Cooper is celebrating his 15th birthday!! He's a little slower and has a bit more grey hair (and he may have put on a pound or two over the years), but he's in great health and continues to act like a playful pup despite his advancing age.

I wanted to post my "Happy Tail" to thank the staff and volunteers of HSHV for all their hard work. It's because of your dedication that so many of us find our forever friends! Thank you!
