Help stop inhumane euthanasia of shelter animals

Dear Animal Lovers,

Please email, fax or send a letter or call Senator Hune AND your own Senate representative, http://www.senate.michigan.gov/fysenator/fysenator.htm if different, in support of SB 354.  You may not be aware but some shelters in Michigan still use gas chambers to “euthanize” homeless animals.  Gas chambers are well-known to be inhumane, causing a slow, painful, panic-filled death for the animal.  We want to see every animal saved possible, but when an animal has to be put down it should ALWAYS be done with compassion.  Euthanasia by injection (also known as EBI) is quick and painless, and a completely affordable option for every shelter.   There is absolutely no reason for shelters to still be using this barbaric method to put our companion animals down.

For more information, please reference this Fact Sheet by Michgandersforshelterpets.org and a letter written to Senator Hune by our Tanya Hilgendorf, HSHV’s President/CEO.
