A love story in Jellyland, as told by her 10-yr-old human brother

After saying goodbye to our beloved 20-yr-old black kitty last spring, Nekopi (HSHV alum 1993), our family returned to HSHV in August to adopt another cat. After leaving empty-handed a few times, we at last found our purr-fect match in Jelly (still Jelly, aka Jelly CowCat).

Although she had been there when we visited, we hadn't seen her because she was being treated for a nasty tail injury. None of this seems to have phased Jelly, who is a truly loving, loyal, and sweet addition to our family...

Jelly had just turned 1 when we adopted her, and it has been a love story at home with her. Her three human siblings have taken on roles as brusher, feeder, comforter, playmate, and photographer. Jelly loves to "bark" at the birds, park herself in boxes, invade the counter space, chase feather toys and milk bottle cap rings, and generally distract us with her cuteness at the expense of all other chores. (She also has garnered quite a following on Catmoji.com.)

Perhaps the best illustration of Jelly's reign over Jellyland is her 10-yr-old brother's weekly writing assignment:

"Every night my chronic-cuteness cat, Jelly, sleeps in my room. Here is what I do over the day to make her love me.

"In the morning I give her her salmon pate' which we call "stinky foods" because it stinks. Every once in a while I pet her or play with her. And once a cat is interested in something moving, it's all they ever want to do.

"When it's time for her to get in bed, we're all ready. Her bed is made in an unused corner of my bed. The bed is an unused pillow on top of that there is a small blanket. Still on top of that there is a checkered blanket. Jelly goes between the small blanket and the checked one. She gets so comfortable she doesn't even change locations during the night.
"In my room she also has a vacation home, which is a shoe box. After her comfortable sleep the next day starts and the whole process starts all over!"

With gratitude,
The Hoekstra -Hada family
