Two local animal hoarding cases leave HSHV over-full and in need of adopters HSHV took in 45 dogs and 20 cats from two different Washtenaw County hoarding cases
The dogs are mainly small breeds, Chihuahua, Pomeranian and Terrier mixes. Our regular small dog adoption fee for the dogs from this case will be discounted by over $100. “These are wonderful dogs, and are generally healthy, but due to neglectful conditions, most did not get quite the right amount of socialization and training. Many are still very unsure of themselves and have not had much experience in the world. Unfortunately several have also been diagnosed and are now under treatment for Heartworm. But if you have a big heart, patience, and can provide TLC to a good-natured dog that deserves a second chance, we hope you will come and meet one of these adorable dogs. Most will do best in a home with another dog and, unfortunately, are not ideal for families with small kids”, said Renee Benell, Adoptions Manager.

Last week HSHV’s Animal Cruelty Investigation and Rescue Team took in an extra 45 dogs and 20 cats from two different Washtenaw County hoarder cases where the animals were victims of serious neglect. “Hoarder cases like these put a serious strain on our already full shelter. But we are committed to seeing that each beautiful soul gets a second chance at a happy life. We are hoping there are people out there ready to open their hearts and homes to these special animals,” said HSHV CEO, Tanya Hilgendorf.
