Betty and her puppies make a full recovery

Betty with her new family
Betty with her new family

This happy tail made possible by all our valued HSHV supporters!

A small mother dog and her four puppies were found in the freezing cold by a good Samaritan who immediately brought them to the Humane Society of Huron Valley.  Tragically two of the puppies died before we had a chance to help.  Malnourished and dehydrated, the mother was barely able to nurse her two remaining pups.

After emergency care in our veterinary clinic, mom (named Betty) and her two babies were stabilized and then placed in a loving HSHV foster home. Ever the fighter and determined to care for her puppies, Betty made a full recovery and finished weaning her babies.

At only a year old herself, Betty appeared to have been used by a backyard breeder and suffered from medical neglect.  Without the treatment and TLC that she received at HSHV Betty and her babies would have endured a heartbreaking ending.

However, Pebbles and Bam Bam (Betty’s pups) are now thriving and will remain in foster care until they are big enough to be adopted.

And we are delighted to report that Betty was our 3,500th adoption of 2012!  Adopted on December 4th by the Stacey family of Ann Arbor—who surely be giving this sweet little mamma the pampered life she deserves.

The care of Betty and her pups was only made possible by our wonderfully generous supporters.  Your donation will enable us to go the extra mile for every animal in need, just like Betty.
