Teens Complete Service Projects to Benefit HSHV HSHV applauds these dedicated volunteers for their accomplishments!
To complete Eagle Scout service project requirements, Scott Davidson and Justin Broughman recently built dog houses for our cruelty and rescue program. Scott Davidson also built three TNR (trap-neuter-release) winter shelters for feral cats as part of HSHV's community cat program. A project currently in progress, and managed by Jonathan Firehammer is the building of a storage shed to hold the TNR traps. In order to earn Eagle Scout badges, scouts must plan, organize, and manage the entire project—even raising the money necessary—before turning the age of 18. Eagle Scouts are awarded a medal and a badge in recognition of their accomplishment. Over the years, HSHV has benefited from many such community-service minded teens ranging in age from 15-17—and not just boy scouts. Girl scouts have earned silver and gold awards by making much needed enrichment toys and fleece blankets for HSHV’s resident animals.
