Dicken Elementary Raises $1,500 for HSHV's Homeless Pets  Two Dicken Elementary PTO members created a fundraising event called the Dicken Dash to benefit HSHV. Dicken Elementary PTO members, Micki Schueler and Kirstin Cueen, hoped to not only focus on raising money but also make fitness a priority for the students.They hoped the fundraiser, in which students take pledges, train and then ran laps on a track outside the school, would net around $6,000. Instead, the school’s 367 students raised a total of $15,817. 10% of the funds raised where slated for a charity of the students choice which they all voted on. The Humane Society of Huron Valley is very grateful that the students elected HSHV to receive the donation. Eddy, a 6-month-old pitbull mix puppy visited Dicken School long with Karen Patterson and they accepted the check in person on October 23rd at the school assembly. Eddy was adopted two days later. |
