No Tricks, Just Treats When You Adopt at HSHV

The Humane Society of Huron Valley wants your adoption process to be a treat! We pride ourselves on exceptional customer service and making your pet adoption a fun, enjoyable experience for the whole family.

If you have not visited HSHV in the last four years, you are really in for a sweet treat! The new shelter opened in 2009 with a focus on open and inviting animal visitation areas. The warm and super clean facility is one of the first things visitors notice. The in-house, affordable retail store is also convenient for adopters who can purchase items to make their new arrivals feel right at home.

“We understand that bringing a new pet into your home is an exciting time,” said Renee Benell, HSHV Adoptions and Customer Service Manager. “Often a family has talked about adoption for a long time and when they are ready to adopt it’s our job to ensure the best experience, including helping them find a pet that will best suit their lifestyle.”

HSHV has a host of programs that provide care and enrichment in the lives of the animals when they are at the shelter. From basic manners training to learning to walk well on a leash, HSHV staff and volunteers go above and beyond for every animal’s needs.

“All humane societies are completely independent from one another,” said Joshua Monat, HSHV Customer Care Assistant. “People often remark that HSHV is the nicest shelter they have ever visited and they can tell that the animals are well cared for. We are proud that HSHV provides customers with such an enjoyable visit and we hope that means that they will return and also tell their friends and family about their experience at HSHV.”

All adoptable animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, have been spayed/neutered, medically and behaviorally evaluated, and given a microchip I.D., which is all included in very affordable adoption fees. HSHV is open daily at 11 a.m. for adoptions.
