HSHV's Community Cat Program Expands to University of Michigan Campus

Attend the UM Campus Community Cat Training on November 11

Through a recent partnership with a University of Michigan Department of Public Safety student who noticed the prevalence of feral cats in her own neighborhood, we have expanded our Community Cat Program to the UM campus.

Recently, we assisted in trapping and returning nearly 20 cats on the UM campus. These cats were brought to HSHV for neutering and have been re-released back into their neighborhoods. As part of the T-N-R (trap-neuter-release) program, HSHV offers training to members of the community who are interested in becoming cat colony caregivers. A special training session for the UM community is scheduled for November 11, 5-7 pm.

HSHV is dedicated to improving the lives of animals in our community. As part of this mission, HSHV has operated a Community Cat Program for a number of years.  Through this program, feral cats are trapped, neutered, then re-released back into their community where committed caregivers provide food and outdoor shelter and protection for the life of the cat. This has proven to be an effective technique for reducing feral cat populations while supporting a higher quality of life for these animals.
