Horse Cruelty Update

Donate now and the The Susan Kornfield Challenge Gift will match your contribution.

rescued horses

Many of you caught our story on the increase in cruelty against horses and other farm animals and the extra problems caused by the summer’s drought.

We have some really good news: two of our rescued horses are now in the process of being adopted!

One by the wonderful local nonprofit, Therapeutic Riding, Inc. of Ann Arbor, where our beloved Sugar will live out a happy life helping young people with disabilities.  The other, Queenie, was adopted by great friends of HSHV who will surely give her a loving home.

We are also pleased to report that Burton Hoey of Dexter Township will be facing three counts of animal cruelty as a result of a recent investigation.

On a sad note, one of the horses being held for a cruelty case died last week while under veterinary care for neglect. Though we mourn her loss, we are glad we had a chance to make her life more comfortable, if just for a short-time, and hope that justice will be served in her name.

Thank you so much to all of the kindhearted animal lovers out there who have donated to our Farm Animal Aid Fund so we can continue this important work!  Your faith and generosity are what keep us going!  If you haven’t donated yet, it’s not too late to take advantage of the Susan Kornfield Challenge Gift that doubles your donation dollars to help these noble creatures.
