Bingley The black kitty with 3 legs (formerly Milford) I went to the HSHV to look for a new companion for myself and Archie. I had adopted Archie and Gus from the HSHV 14 years ago. Gus passed away this spring after a battle with kidney failure. Archie was not dealing well with becoming an only cat. He started to over groom to the point of creating bald patches on his tummy and legs. My vet confirmed that physically he is fine just stressed and lonely. She actually "prescribed" adopting a kitten. I decided to go for an adult cat and so the search began. After a few visits, I adopted (or was adopted by) Bingley almost a month ago. He just stole my heart with his meow and his resilience. Bingley had his left rear leg amputated at the HSHV due to a bad fracture. I met him shortly after he was available for adoption. He hopped right up to the front of his cage and meowed and purred and was saying "take me home". I had to think about it but he wouldn't get out of my head. So he came home with me. We got home and most cats act a little shy about their new surroundings. Not this guy, hopped right in like he owned the place. By the end of the weekend, he and Archie were getting along. I was amazed since you never know how introducing a new cat will go. They have starting playing and chasing each other. No cat piles yet but they do share my bed. Someday they might cuddle. And Archie has stopped over grooming. |
