Sally (formerly Sully) is a TREASURE! Sally (formerly Sully) nearly completes our feline family! We lost two elderly female cats this year - both 18 years old - and after a respectable period of mourning, decided our 13 and 15 year old males might like a female mischief-maker. I would have gone as old as 8-10 years but Sally (formerly Sully) just popped out as the winner. I can't explain it since there were so many other worthy candidates, but she won! I knew I wanted a female who would get along with other cats so that concentrated my search a bit. I wanted ALL of the shelter cats - it saddens me that they are there.Sally has re-introduced us to the joys of empty cardboard boxes, empty paper bags, and has enlivened our older cats even if all they are interested in doing is watching her! I have witnessed some chattering and batting, as they head to the food bowl when the "dinner bell" rings, so it is just a matter of time before our 13 year old, particularly, will be engaging her in nonsense. Our 15 year old will eventually groom her, nearly guaranteed. She has that hilarious capability of running on her hind legs only when startled or playful, like that youtube video-sensation kitty. I am not good enough/fast enough to capture it, but assuredly, it will be worth it if I can! She also immediately ingratiated herself to my husband - she is one smart kitty indeed. Sally has been a PERFECT match for our family. I might be considering just one more kitty - we have had four for many, many years, and have room for them. Time will tell. |
