Walter (aka Hagrid) update since Jan adoption

Hagrid

Surgery hasn't slowed him down!

Since coming to live with us in January, Walter continues to open up to us and provide true companionship for Heidi (our 9 yr old St. Bernard). About a month ago it was decided he blew his ACL (probably genetic issue, as there was no trauma) and required surgery. MSU did a wonderful job with the surgery and he is well on his way to recovery. He was a wonderful patient, often visited by MSU surgery staff in his cage during his 2 day stay with them. He has tolerated his surgery and slow recovery well--accepting our help w/ a towel to support his hind legs and while he is getting a little bored w/o his walks--in the long run we know it will be worth it and add to the quality of his life. He is such a gentle soul, enjoying everyone he meets and provides a serenity to all due to his calm, loving personality. He LOVES blankets and sleeping bags, he likes his toys, LOVES to eat ice cubes (better than any store purchased doggie treat) and veggies (who would have thought that). Mostly he loves his new "pack". Thank you again, for taking such good care of him and for letting him join our family. He just walked into our lives and immediatly fit in- apparently we all fit into his life too. (Again, I do not have any pictures on my computer of him, if you still have the one from his posting- and my original happy tails update just after we adopted him, please feel free to add that picture to this story.)
