Foster Homes Needed!  Kitten in need of a foster home Do you have room in your home and your heart for a pet who needs a place to grow? The summer time is our busiest season here at HSHV. We take in hundreds of animals a month, many of them kittens. Often the kittens are not quite big enough to be spayed or neutered for adoption, and need a few weeks of home care to grow. Without our foster homes, it would be nearly impossible for us to make sure all of these kittens get the care they need. We also need foster homes for puppies who are too young, and for dogs and cats who need to recover from injuries or illness, or who just aren't doing well in a shelter environment. We are in need of volunteers like you to provide this short-term in-home care. All veterinary care is paid by the Humane Society of Huron Valley. Food and litter may also be provided. Fostering can last from a few days to several months. In order to be a foster family for HSHV, you'll need to be 21 years old and not fostering for any other organization or rescue group while you're fostering for us. You will have a home check to insure your home is safe for fostering. Also, we ask that your own pets are sterilized and completely up-to-date on vaccinations. If you are interested in fostering you'll need to first attend a general volunteer orientation, then a Fast Track Foster orientation. Once you have had your home visit and are approved you to foster can get started right away!
