HSHV Welcomes Humane Society International Interns

All this week HSHV will be hosting two animal welfare interns from Serbia and Egypt

We have two very special visitors at HSHV this week! As part of their internship program, Humane Society International has placed two interns with us: Amr Hamdy from the Egyptian Federation For Animal Welfare (EFAW) in Cairo, Egypt, and Ivan Kurajov from the Ljubimci Society for the Protection of Animals in Pancevo, Serbia.

Amr and Ivan will be hosted by HSHV until Sunday, giving them a chance to spend time with our staff and learn about all aspects of daily shelter operation at HSHV. They'll also be with us at Walk & Wag on Saturday.

Both of our visitors have extensive backgrounds in animal welfare in their home countries. Amr spent seven years as a volunteer at a shelter. When he saw the need for education to help prevent animal neglect and cruelty, he founded EFAW, a federation of sixteen animal welfare organizations in Egypt. Ivan began working on behalf of animals in 1996, when he joined a local organization for the protection of animals in Pancevo. He helped organized the very first city-wide petition against animal cruelty that led to the suspension of cruel methods of animal killing on the street.

We're absolutely thrilled to have Amr and Ivan here with us. As the week goes on, we'll share more about their experiences here at HSHV.
