First Ever Adopt-a-thon a Huge Success Our first-ever adopt-a-thon was successful in many ways but the real winners were all the adopters and the 67 pets that found their new forever homes.
Our first ever adopt-a-thon was successful in many ways but the real winners were all the adopters and the 67 pets that found their new forever homes. Amazingly enough, the first 30 adoptions happened in the first three hours we were open. A big thank you must go out to the 137 volunteers that gave their time to make the day so enjoyable and who kept things running smoothly! What would we do without you? We also thank Diane Kerr from Dairy Queen, The Bearclaw Coffee Company, Sam’s Club, Midwest Rabbit Rescue, the Great Lakes Zoological Society, Avian Bird Rescue, Lucy Ann Lance, Ann Arbor Radio, WDEE-TV.com, and Washtenaw Dairy. And, we can’t forget the musicians that donated their talents to the early evening entertainment: Z Reinhardt, the Copy Cats and the Shelter Dogs, you guys rocked! The goal of the adopt-a-thon was to bring attention to the numbers of homeless pets in our community and to give visitors information on caring for their new companions. Based on the smiles and comments from visitors we hope to hold another adopt-a-thon in the fall. |
