MiPaws Dogs Return from Graduation with Honors

Moe, Aggie and Courtney have graduated from their training class and will be highlighted on Saturday to showcase their new talents!

Friday, March 2, 2012 was graduation day for three dogs who spent 6 weeks doing one-on-one training with a hand-selected trainer from the Huron Valley Women's Correctional Facility. The program, called Mi-Paws is part of Michigan Inmates Providing Assistance Work & Service.

The inmates were been hand-selected to participate in this program. Each dog lived around the clock with their inmate handler and while in their care worked on different aspects of training.

Moe, Aggie and Courtney are returning with impressive new talents! If you've been looking for a companion with a good bit of training under their belt, you should make the time to come and visit these dogs. We have a feeling they will be adopted quickly. On Saturday, March 3 we will be highlighting their new talents from noon to 5 pm.

Aggie is the clown of the group and she will make you smile with her funny antics. She likes to play and horse around but she is also attentive and will listen to commands. She is only 9 months old and has already learned her basic manners. She will make a wonderful companion as long as she gets the playtime she loves. She also enjoys other dogs and would love a playmate.

Courtney is a love bug and is only a year old. She has learned sit, stay, come and sit pretty and she promises to be a great family dog. She enjoys being with people and with other dogs and is very social. We think Courtney will fit easily into many lifestyles and is hoping that her new family will give her daily exercise and some nice playtime also.

Moe is almost 2-years-old and has really become a well-behaved dog. He was a stary when he first came to HSHV and while he was a sweetheart, he lacked training. Now Moe is an idle companion. He is social, friendly and eager to continue learning. He's a fast learner and an affectionate guy as well. He's also hoping that his new family can have special time for him each day.
