Jackson (formally known as Otis)

Adopted in October 2011

Jackson is a 75lb lap dog. He's convinced that he is still the size of a puppy and is constantly sitting on your lap, taking over your bed or knocking into you. Shortly after adopting Jackson we realized he has some abandonment issues. Which makes a lot of sense when you know that the HSHV picked him up after he was ditched on the side of the freeway. This became pretty apparent as he spent his time following me everywhere. Luckily for him, I love taking him with me everywhere, even while running to the store, he rides shotgun. He loves other dogs and is constantly making new playmates at the park.

HSHV guessed that Jackson was five and a half on account of how calm he is, we were pretty shocked when we found that he's not even two yet. However, his real age sure explains a lot. While he has a calm demeanor most of the time, get him out in the woods and he has a blast running around and exploring. Not to mention he's still trying to get used to his size and strength. Which means that our seniors at home (14 and 13) can sometimes be annoyed with his constant want to play.

Here he is trying to engage me at home while taking a break from his elk antler bone.

Thank you so much Humane Society. We couldn't have asked for a better dog, and now because of him we have no choice but to get involved with spreading the good word about pits.
