Raven (formerly Lincoln) Adopted in October 2011 I lost my beloved pure white cat of only 9 years in March 2011 very suddenly. It was a horrific blow, and one which took me many months to get over. My healing process consisted of visiting the cats at HSHV at least once or twice a week. I fell in love with two pure white cats and couldn't decide which one I wanted to adopt. I finally decided to adopt both. The day before I was going to take the kitties home, I saw a brand new resident: an strikingly sleek all-black cat with greenish, yellow eyes which appeared to glow in the darkness of his fur. I petted him for awhile. His name was Lincoln, but he was not ready for adoption. However, he responded to me so positively with purring, nuzzling me under my chin, and rolling around as I petted him that I thought it might be worthwhile to check him out. He would be available for adoption after a vet had checked him out. So, I put a "hold" on him still not sure if I would adopt him or the white kitties. The next day I went back and immediately knew who I would be taking home: Lincoln. I have had Lincoln, now known as "Raven" for 3 weeks and it has been nothing but pure joy. I love him so much and he has taken to me as well. We are both in-love. He loves playing with our other kitty, Moe, and they roll around all day long playing and wrestling. He has become the joy of my life right now. We will be moving to Ohio soon and I have no doubt he will adjust well. He took to his new name in only a few days. He gives me little loving chirps and when I call his name, his response sounds almost like he is saying, "Yes??" We cuddle at night before we go to sleep. He curls up on my chest and puts his little face under my chin and purrs and purrs. I love him so much. Thank you HSHV!! Raven's Mom |
