(Ann Arbor) – The Humane Society of Huron Valley (HSHV) is honoring the men and women that serve our country by running a pet adoption special called “Paws for Patriots”, which will run now through November 13, 2011.
“Any adult cat over 5 months old is FREE to any current or former member of the armed forces, and they can also take $50 OFF of any puppy or dog adoption during the special as well,” said Deb Kern, HSHV
Marketing Director. “This is a small thing we know, but it was important to our staff and volunteers to say thank you to the courageous members of the service that give so much of themselves every day.”
HSHV currently has over 200 animals ready for adoption and is inviting all veterans to come to the facility located at 3100 Cherry Hill Road in Ann Arbor to see if one the homeless animals might be a perfect match for their family.
“Many of the pets at HSHV have been previously owned,” said Kern. “There is a misperception that most animals in animal shelters have something behaviorally wrong but that is far from the truth. Many of the pets, just like Myrna, had a home but their families lost their home or job or both, and had no option left to them but to relinquish their pet to the shelter.”
All animals are spayed/neutered, are up-to-date on vaccinations and come with a Microchip I.D. which is included in all adoptions including the FREE Adult Cat Special.
The Humane Society of Huron Valley, located in Ann Arbor, was recently awarded the “Best Large Animal Shelter in Michigan” by the Michigan Pet Fund Alliance for saving the most lives.
