Elmo
Elmo

Adopted in March 2010

We've had Elmo about a year and a half now, and he'll be two in December. Great dog! Here's an update on him:

The other night, he was sniffing around in the woods, and suddenly lay down on point. He had found a little fox squirrel that seemed to be barely alive. We left it alone to finish dying in peace, but when we got home and checked online, the Friends of Wildlife website told us to go ahead and bring it inside, and keep it warm.

The squirrel spent a comfortable night in a box with something to warm it, and was picked up the next day by Elaine, the local squirrel rescue person. Minutes after she left, though, Elmo went back into the woods and found the baby's sister about 15 feet away, looking like dead leaves, so Elaine came back, and the two sibs cuddled together in a little pile of squirrel in her box. Very cute!
