Molly (now Lenore) and Lily (now Miyuki) Adopted in August 2011 I went to HSHV with the intent of adopting one kitten to keep me company. I left with two, and don't regret a thing. There were so many wonderful options that I spent about two hours trying to decide which would be the best fit for me. I'd come close to choosing one, but when I went back to look at her again, she'd been claimed. It was then that I noticed two little black lovelies below her; they'd been hiding the first time I went through so I didn't notice them. After a bit of coaxing I managed to get Lenore/Molly to come out and sniff my fingers, and though Miyuki/Lily wouldn't venture out, she was purring and seemed very sweet. A worker opened the cage for me and after a bit, they both warmed up to me and I was sold. After a surprisingly quiet car ride home, they were introduced to their new home--they explored for a few hours and then seemed content to chase each other around. They haven't stopped since. Miyuki (whose name ironically is related to "snow") is a cuddler when I can find her--she likes to curl up in tiny nooks and crannies for a nap. Lenore, named after Poe's famous character, doesn't like sitting still unless it's to nap on top of my jewelry box. They seem almost as happy as I am to have them here. |
