Phillip Adopted in May 2011 During our first few weeks together, I've already been given innumerable life lessons courtesy of a 16 pound bundle of energy and love by the name of Phillip. Some highlights include:- Running for the sake of running can be joyful - A small, white concrete statue of a lamb can look deceivingly like a small dog, so much so that the "butt sniff" maneuver will be employed - SQUIRREL! - There's no better feeling than watching your best friend's whole body wiggle in an excited greeting - It's possible to consistently perform a new command unless its in the kitchen, in which case "Sit!" apparently becomes "Sedni si !" - There's no better way to spend an afternoon than curled up together with a good book - Robins are evil and must be destroyed - It's possible to undertake previously unimagined tasks for love, i.e. dislodging a tick - Taking walks in your pajamas isn't even noticed when you've got a prancing pooch on the end of a leash - SQUIRREL! - A dog never smells better than when drenched with fresh air and sunshine - Carrots are treats when you don't know any better - The person who invented the retractable leash was a genius - A squeaky toy a day hones the skills to keep squirrels at bay! Without an amazing foster family and the HSHV, I would never have had the opportunity to find my steadfast companion. Phillip makes me laugh everyday, and is a constant source of happiness. I am immeasurably grateful to the wonderful staff and volunteers who made our life together possible, and I can't wait to see what laughter and life lessons await us! |
