Chester (formerly Sage)

Chester
Chester

Adopted in May 2011

We first saw "Sage", now Chester, at the shelter on May 1st. We immediately fell in love with him, and he seemed to like us too! He came right up and sat in our laps, which is not something that he usually did, according to shelter staff. We were so afraid that someone else would adopt him when we were fixing a place for him! Six long days later, we brought him home. He gets along famously with our huge, 90 lb. German Shepherd and even Grandma and my 9-year-old brother. He's doing very well with socializing, he goes downtown with us a lot and he likes seeing all the people! He used to be so scared of men, but now he's doing SO much better with them. He's a very smart dog; he learned "sit" and "shake" in two days! (Now, if only he'd lie down.) He's house trained now, which only took us a few weeks. (Mostly HIM training US) He loves to steal things, whether it's a tissue, my socks, or a stuffed animal. We call him a "kleptomaniac". He loves getting his teeth into anything - especially when he's not supposed to!

This dog does not seem like a "rescue" or "abused" dog anymore. He's very well-behaved and nice. He's the perfect companion for my brother, my mom, and even Brutus, our GSD. Chester can be laid-back and mellow, or crazy and energetic. He's great for all of us. Thank you so much for our incredible best friend!
