Adopted in September and December of 2010

In September 2010, I visited HSHV with the hopes of adopting a cat. I interacted with most of the cats there, but there was one cage I kept coming back to - an annoying, loud black cat who cried angrily when I walked away from her cage. I fell in love with the cranky diva, and Liza (formerly Willow) came home with us. She immediately made herself at home and was funny, energetic and sociable, but over the next three months seemed to grow a bit bored, and became somewhat destructive. Her temperament testing indicated she was better as a solo cat, but I wondered if what she needed was actually a playmate.

I returned to HSHV in December 2010 with the hopes of finding a friend for her. I quickly came upon a strange little orange cat, with stumpy short legs and the silliest little chirping meow ever. He was perfect, and Toby (formerly Derby) came home with us the same day.

The first few days were HORRIBLE. Liza would hiss through the door at Toby, and growled/struck at him every time they were near each other. Just when I was at my wits' end, a switch must have flipped in Liza's brain. She walked up to Toby and began to groom him, to which he responded by purring happily. They've since become the best of buddies and enjoy chasing laser pointers and sitting together on the windowsill, chirping at birds.

Thank you, HSHV staff, for taking such loving care of my little critters until they found me.
