Starbuck (formerly Rena)

Starbuck
Starbuck

Adopted in October 2010

To the fantastic staff at HSHV,

In early October, 2010, my husband and I adopted a pretty girl named Rena (now Starbuck). Technically, my husband adopted her, because I don't turn 21 until the end of this month, but she's my cat in every way but the HSHV paperwork.

The first month or so was a little rocky, but she's slipped into our lives with little resistance. She sleeps either at the foot of our bed or in her cat bed (right next to the heating vent, so she's been there since it got colder), and, as much as it may annoy my husband, I don't sleep right if I'm not being woken up at 8am by a hungry cat meowing in my face for her breakfast.

She's a complete chatterbox, much to the amusement of everyone around, and will have conversations with you. If you shower around feeding time without tending to her stomach first, you can be assured that she'll give you a piece of her mind when you get out. It's taken some time for her to get comfortable, but she's started napping next to me on the couch while I'm on my computer, with her claws in my jeans so I can't run off on her without waking her up. She's never scratched or bit anybody, she just tends to latch gently onto whoever she's napping with. She meets me at the door, and follows me around when I'm home. I can't imagine life without her.

While we were talking about adopting a cat, a friend of mine told me to look for my "kismet kitty." I found her.

Thanks for keeping her safe for me,

Sam Keaney
