Grace (formerly Pippi)  Grace Adopted in 2011 A few weeks ago, my husband and I adopted "Pippi" from HSHV. We have had our current dog, Chance, for about four years and we wanted him to have a playmate. Because Chance was a rescue with huge success and because there are so many dogs in need, we wanted to adopt again. We started looking online and on a whim, visited HSHV. We did not expect to adopt that day because our criteria was very specific. Chance is a seven year old, large, dominant, male, pit bull mix and we knew that whatever pet we chose had to interact well with him. We were looking for an adult, female, pit bull mix that was large enough to play well with Chance, but still a bit smaller. We instantly fell in love with Pippi's playfulness and loving nature but where not sure about a younger dog or how Chance would feel about her. The team at HSHV was very helpful in providing us with all of the information we needed and suggested to bring Chance in for a visit with her. It was an instant match. When the two met in the parking lot, they eagerly greeted each other and hit it off right away. The playing continued inside in the playroom and any concerns we had were immediately washed away. We adopted her, took her home that day and she has been a joy ever since. We changed her name to Grace, but have since found out that she isn't always very graceful! Adopting Grace was the best decision we made, Chance is now happier and more playful and two get along wonderfully! Grace and Chance love to play tug of war and cuddle together. She is very lovable and is learning better manners and more tricks every day. Whenever you are sitting, she wants to be right up in your lap! She pees a little when she is excited or nervous, so we are careful not to pet her when we first greet her (or use the vacuum around her) and are hoping that she grows out of it.
