A New Beginning "Perfect Pair" finds a new home
Sadly, Greg and Isabella's caretaker fell ill, was hospitalized and will be unable to return home. Friends brought the senior cats to the Humane Society of Huron Valley because they could not care for or find homes for them. Our hearts went out to these felines. Their lives had been scattered and they were very scared in their new surroundings. Greg, the larger orange male, and Isabella, the much smaller tiger and white female, stuck close to each other for comfort. Our hope was to make the cats a "Perfect Pair" and put them up for adoption together but Isabella became sick and had to be isolated. Since we were so full and overwhelmed with too many cats, we had to put Greg up for adoption. Within a few days Greg settled in and his friendly personality came shining through. People often stopped to scratch his soft, furry cheeks and he loved it. On September 24th a woman asked to adopt Greg. When she learned that Greg had a companion who was not available for adoption yet, that was all she needed to hear. She came back four days later when Isabella was well and adopted her too, reuniting Greg with his sister of 9 years. Days can go by. Dog and cats, sometimes close to 200 a week, come walking through, or are carried into, our Animal Intake Department. We always do our best for each one of them and when they find new, caring homes we rejoice. Thanks to the compassion of one man--and now one woman--Greg and Isabella will continue to have a home together. Theirs is truly a happy ending. |

There are not many people who would open their doors to two semi-feral homeless cats living in a mobile home park, but fortunately for Greg and Isabella, someone did. They had a home for nine years with a man who loved them. He socialized them, fed them, and cared for their medical needs.
