Food for justice

Bosco arrived at HSHV weighing 42 pounds. He should have weighed 84. Now, it's the judge's turn to weigh in.

"I'm starving!"

Bosco the dogWe all know the feeling of being ravenously hungry, but probably none more than Bosco, a two-year-old black and white big headed dog. When he arrived at HSHV, he looked like a skeleton with a wagging tail. He weighed 42 pounds. He should have weighed 84. He had a broken tooth -- maybe from scavenging for food, trying to find something, anything to eat.

His owner said she had no time for him.

The judge said that was no excuse. The vet said all he needed was food.

So in December, Bosco got food for justice. And really, that's all the sweetheart of a dog wanted.

Friendly, curious, and adorable as can be, Bosco happily gobbled down the food we gave him. By the way he was acting, you'd think his kibble was a Thanksgiving gourmet feast! "Good appetite," a staff member wrote as an understatement. The darling dog both gained weight and made friends easily.

This week, Bosco's owner will receive her sentence. Hopefully, that will prevent other dogs from suffering as Bosco did. As for Bosco-- we're guessing he's already forgiven and forgotten what happened to him. Because now, thanks to you, Bosco has everything he's ever wanted. Food. Kisses. More food. And a whole lot of love.
