Camel's Story

Started as a dream

"21 cats rescued from traps in cold Ypsilanti Twp garage."

This story touched me more than any other story since my own sweet Riley passed last year. Picturing those poor scared kitties in cages in a dark, cold garage broke my heart. Riley was a stray who I took in when he needed a champion. I couldn't imagine something like this happening to him or any other kitty.

Then something unexpected happened less than a week after this story aired. I had a dream with Riley in it. I was looking for him trying to feed him. One by one, his friends Lee, Priscilla, Blake, and Baby Boy made an appearance. I finally found Riley but he wasn't hungry. I think he was telling me he was okay now.

If I hadn't had this dream, I don't think I could have done what I did next. On January 20th I visited the Humane Society again and met one of these brave little kitties from the garage rescue. It was love at first sight.

I am happy to introduce our newest family member, Camel (AKA Camille, but I liked Camel better). She was very skittish at first when I brought her home, but she is already opening up. She even ventured downstairs on her own and sat next to me on the couch purring. Star is very curious about her, too.

Star and I will never forget our dear Riley, but I know in my heart, all three of us are going to be all right.
