Feeling blue?

It's Free Love Friday: Get comforted by the cafe cats on Friday, free

cat comfortAnn Arbor, MI (November 10, 2016) – For those feeling down about the times, Ann Arbor’s new cat café is freely opening its doors from 10-7 this Friday, November 11. Members of the public can get cat comforted for free.

“Cats are therapeutic,” says Tanya Hilgendorf, CEO/President of the Humane Society of Huron Valley (HSHV) which launched the cat café in May of this year. “Their soothing purrs not only helps cats’ own breathing, but also studies show that cats’ purring helps lower humans’ blood pressure and stress and literally help us heal.”

Research suggests that cats purr within a range that is known to be medically therapeutic.

“I’ve seen it,” says Haley Chynoweth, manager at the Tiny Lions lounge and adoption Center. “People come in to the cat café down and leave with their spirits lifted.”

And though there’s no obligation to adopt, that option is open to visitors needing continual comfort, too.

The Tiny Lions Lounge and Adoption Center cat café is at 5245 Jackson Road, Ann Arbor. Visitors on Friday, November 11 will receive free admission for up to one hour. Up to two children over the age of 4 may accompany an adult. Space is limited and first-come, first-served.
