Bunny Bonding worth the effort!

Bunny Bonding worth the effort!

Oscar was seeking a companion - so we adopted Flash Gordon from HSHV (at right).

We were hoping to find a companion for our rabbit, Oscar (a girl with a boy's name). We don't know Oscar's age or anything. She was dumped near my husband's office. We had her spayed so we knew we could adopt a male rabbit. Flash and his siblings were born at HSHV, so he was very small when we adopted him. Today, he is a rousing 9 pounds! For the first few months, we had to keep the rabbits separated Oscar did NOT like Flash. They hung out "together" with a fence in between. We found a guide on line that said to "smoosh" them hold them close together in your lap while stroking their foreheads. It took several months of daily "smoosh sessions," but it did work they bonded and now spend most of their time snuggled together. Flash is also neutered and microchipped just in case. They share a giant, multilevel cage to keep them safe, and also spend hours each day out in a playpen or on the screened-in porch. It was A LOT of work to get them bonded, but it was worth the effort. They are two happy bunnies!
