Grateful is an understatement Ann & Ivan & HSHV thank you for making their story possible Early in 2015, the Humane Society of the United States (no connection with HSHV) raided a suspected "hog dog" breeding ring. Hog dog fighting is a cruel spectator event in which pigs The dogs were released by the courts, and received medical care and enrichment. The puppies were able to be adopted out to loving families. For many of the adult dogs, however, being rescued was just the beginning of their road to recovery. Being un-cared for, unsocialized, and unloved had taken a toll that would need skilled attention, a lot of patience and continual care. Two of the dogs who were used solely as breeders made their way from Cottonwood, Alabama to Ann Arbor, Michigan. Ann and Ivan, once abused for their ability to reproduce, are now under the loving care of the staff at the Humane Society of Huron Valley. Here, they are receiving individualized attention, patient interventions, behavior help, and of course, TLC. Physically, Ivan and Ann are doing great, and their behavior is improving as well-- as they learn to trust people again. They enjoy going for walks together. We're thankful Ann and Ivan were given a new leash on life by rescuers, and we're extraordinarily grateful that supporters like you allow us to be a shelter to do things like this. Thank you! |
