Vet tech goes nuts for Squirrel

Squirrel the dogWeighing little more than a bag of sugar, sweet Squirrel's shrieks weren't sugar-coated. He didn't want to be touched or moved. Brought in as an injured stray, the tiny Pomeranian mix was surely in a world of pain.

Medication brought relief to darling Squirrel. Food-- not so much--until we happened to try hotdogs, which he'd eat so long as people weren't around. When people were present, Squirrel crawled immediately into their laps.

After gaining Squirrel's trust, HSHV's veterinarians carefully examined Squirrel's little body, tried different treatments and quickly concluded he was in need of spinal surgery.

We transferred Squirrel to Dogwood Veterinary Neurology for specialist attention. An MRI revealed a bone spur could be pinching his neck. A Dogwood veterinary technician revealed she'd fallen in love. She was nuts about Squirrel.

The neurology practice not only offered us a loving adopter and home for Squirrel (The smitten vet tech submitted her adoption application and was approved), but also offered to do the costly surgery and any other necessary future medical therapies pro bono--to give him the best quality of life. Love abounds!

We couldn't be happier for him. Best wishes to you, Squirrel!
