Boris's rise to superstardom

Boris, now OliverWith multiple infections, impacted teeth, and lungs requiring the use of a nebulizer, Boris certainly didn't appear to be a soon-to-be-celebrity. But that was before he was adopted.

Tiny Boris was one of the 88 cats rescued from a hoarding situation in the fall of 2013. Though he was only two pounds, Boris was several years old. After months of medical treatment resulting in a medical chart that ended up weighing more than he did, Boris was ready for adoption at HSHV.

"We fell in love with him there in November when he marched right up to investigate us. He is only alive today thanks to the amazing people at HSHV," says Maeve Sullivan.

Maeve and her family aren't the only ones who fell in love with Boris, renamed Oliver. Last month, Maeve posted a photo of him that went viral on the Facebook page Love Meow... and now, Oliver has a fan base of over 84,000.

"Oliver's voracious appetite and never-say-die spirit earned him his name ('Please, sir, I want some more!"). He's basically a permanent kitten; everything is a toy to him, and everyone a playmate. Though tiny, Oliver rules our 14-pound tom cat (Nigel, HSHV alum 2009) with an iron paw. And I guess he rules us, too," Maeve reports.

"Today, Oliver is a happy, roly-poly, ridiculous little guy," Maeve says. "Thank you for saving this little fellow's life. He has made ours so much better."
