Injured puppy found in box will walk again

Dropped on the doorstep of a veterinarian, Miles finds care and comfort at HSHV

Miles the dogLocal veterinarians found an abandoned puppy in a box on the doorstep of their Ann Arbor office.  He was suffering from two badly broken legs and fractured ribs.  They immediately brought him to HSHV for help.  Miles, as he is now named, cannot tell us what happened, but his injuries are consistent with intentional harm.  Our medical team is providing critical care to this sweet four-month-old pup, whose extensive injuries required treatment from an outside specialty surgeon. Despite his physical condition, Miles is a happy little guy who is now resting comfortably in our care.  Though our Cruelty Investigators are still looking for answers, Miles will be up for adoption after his recovery.

Although heartbreaking, Miles’ story highlights HSHV’s commitment to saving the lives of homeless and abused animals who have nowhere else to turn.  We cannot predict when an animal will come through our doors needing emergency care.  Gifts from wonderfully generous donors allow us to provide lifesaving treatment without hesitation.  This foundation of support paired with HSHV’s expertise and dedication is one of the many reasons HSHV has such a high save rate.
