HSHV celebrates "Happy Neuter Year"

Sponsored by PetSmart Charities®, "Happy Neuter Year" provides $20 neuter surgeries for male dogs and cats

Ann Arbor, MI (December 26, 2014) –  The Humane Society of Huron Valley (HSHV) wants you to ring in the New Year by making a resolution to neuter your male dog or cat during their “Happy Neuter Year” campaign.

Sponsored by PetSmart Charities, the largest funder of animal welfare efforts in North America, the “Happy Neuter Year,” campaign will provide $20 neuter surgeries for male dogs and cats during the month of January.

Spaying and neutering is one of the most effective ways to reduce the homeless pet population and is safe for puppies and kittens as young as eight to 10 weeks old, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association.

“Neutering male pets is a simple surgery that reduces unwanted behaviors, like roaming, fighting, and urine marking territories,” says Wendy Welch, Marketing Director. “It also guarantees your dog or cat never fathers a litter of puppies or kittens.”

This special $20 rate is even less than the organization’s normal low-cost price and is available to all residents of Washtenaw County. Pet parents who wish to take advantage of this offer must mention the “Happy Neuter Year” campaign when they schedule their appointment. This campaign is based on availability, and no-shows and late cancellations not receive the special.

HSHV will provide a limited number of “Happy Neuter Year” sterilizations for $20 in January. Please visit www.hshv.org or call 734-662-4365 for more information or to schedule an appointment.

PetSmart Charities’ “Happy Neuter Year” campaign provides more than $713,624 to spay/neuter clinics to fund affordable, high-quality spay and neuter surgeries for 16,585 male dogs and cats across the nation during the month of January.
