The Season for Good Samaritans

Anonymous tip leads an alpaca to a better life

Spaghettios the alpacaSpaghettio's nails were too long to walk on
Following up on an anonymous tip from a concerned animal lover, our Cruelty & Rescue team found a lone alpaca named Spaghettios. A victim of neglect, Spaghettios was heavily covered in burrs and had toenails so long they hurt to walk on. The owner was trying to sell him online, but said if we could find another home, he'd relinquish Spaghettios to us.

Alpacas are pack animals and very social. When left alone, they can develop ulcers, presenting serious health problems and even death. Spaghettios' fellow alpaca friend had died in the spring, leaving Spaghettios alone for over seven months.

HSHV Cruelty Investigators sought help from Alpha Angle Alpaca, secured immediate veterinary care for Spaghettios, and quickly pursued help from alpaca rescues to find Spaghettios some companions.

Now, this adorable alpaca is enjoying the good life among fleecy friends. He was adopted by a loving family (one experienced with alpacas!) in Munith, MI.
