BLACK FRIDAY, CYBER MONDAY… GIVING TUESDAY

DONATIONS COUNT 2X ON TUESDAY AT THE HUMANE SOCIETY OF HURON VALLEY

trixibelle2.jpg(Ann Arbor, MI) – Over a third of all donations were made in the last quarter of 2013*, and Giving Tuesday—the altruist’s answer to Black Friday and Cyber Monday—played a huge part. From 2012 to 2013, giving on Giving Tuesday leapt 90%.* The animals at the Humane Society of Huron Valley (HSHV) are jumping at this charitable chance. This Giving Tuesday, December 2, monies donated to homeless animals at HSHV will be doubled, up to $5,000, by Board Member Susan Kornfield.

“Donors want their money to count,” says Jaci Nicols, HSHV’s VP of Development and Marketing. “They want to get the most good from every dollar. We do, too, as third party auditors like Charity Navigator attest to.” For three straight years, Charity Navigator has given HSHV 4-star rating for sound fiscal management—their highest rating, and one that fewer than 25% of all charities have received.

“And on Giving Tuesday, your donated dollars will count twice, thanks to a matching challenge gift from HSHV Board Member Susan Kornfield. Of course, we need donors to make the most of this Tuesday for the animals’ sake,” Nicols says.

According to Giving USA, only 3% of US charitable giving goes to environment/animal organizations. As HSHV is an independent nonprofit, they rely on individuals’ donations for all community services—including animal adoptions, Lost & Found, 24/7 Rescue service, animal cruelty investigations, pet food assistance, humane education and more.
