Sweet Sarah Honors Her Buddy

Local 9-year-old asks for gifts for the homeless instead of herself

When Sarah came to HSHV last summer, she fell in love. It was here where Sarah and her family met Mellow, a lovely cat, and decided they needed a new cat in their lives. Mellow must have left quite an impression on Sarah and her family, and this kitty must have taught them some of those skills of compassion. Sarah thought Mellow would appreciate food and toys, towels and treats, for her homeless friends at HSHV still waiting for a good home and she was right! For Sarah’s birthday, she asked all of her friends to bring these items instead of the traditional gifts and clothing that nine year olds receive for their birthday. It takes a special kid to sacrifice someone for themselves, on their special day, and ask to give to others in need. Others who can only return the favor with their thanks. On behalf of all of the furry friends Mellow has left behind, and all of the two legged friends you made of the staff and volunteers who call HSHV home, thank you Sarah! Happy Birthday!
