Ehzzie!!

Ehzzie!!
Ehzzie!!

The cat who added spice to my life

I had never owned a pet of my own, until I adopted Ehzzie. I had grown up with numerous cats and dogs that my parents owned, but had not yet tackled the responsibility of owning one myself. I thought perhaps fostering would be a good way to introduce a pet in need into my home for a short while until they could find their furever home. Turns out, my first foster had other plans she is now a permanent resident in my heart and in my home.

Ehzzie needed a break from the cages at HSHV, she was too energetic and had quite a bit of "cattitude" which resulted in her interacting inappropriately with visitors on several occasions. That is how this sleek orange and white cat came to stay with me.

There were quite a few ups and downs during the adjustment period, both for Ehzzie and for myself. I learned Ehzzie has an insatiable appetite for carbohydrates (I now keep all my cereal, crackers and cookies in the refrigerator). I also learned she will always want to sleep on whatever pillow I have chosen even though there are 3 others just as nice on the bed and I have accepted the fact that every night I will have a warm purring living "cat hat" sleeping on top of my head each evening.

I've learned that being allowed to pet her is a privilege and will occur only on her terms, but is warmly accepted when the stars have aligned purrrfectly. I have also learned that if I roll over at any point during the night this is an invitation for "play time" and stalking/pouncing will ensue no matter that the clock says 3:00 a.m. I do not know Ehzzie's past, what made her so sassy and frisky but I do know her future she will have a place in my home for her entire life and a place in my heart for my entire life.

She is intermittently feisty and loving, spastically playful one moment and narcoleptic the next. She has turned me into a cat fanatic, due to her I am now fond of the term "crazy cat lady." HSHV gave Ehzzie several chances to find her purrrrfect fit, and I am so glad they took the patience to do so, as she brings me quite a bit of joy and endless stories to share about the crazy cat who shares my home and rules my heart.
