Update On Tonks (formally Bella)

Update On Tonks (formally Bella)
Update On Tonks (formally Bella)

Hi HSHV! With her 1st birthday quickly approaching, I wanted to send you a little update on our little girl! When we got her she was originally named Bella. I'm not a huge fan of changing an animal's name, but I am even less of a fan of the Twilight series of books (sorry if there are any HSHV Twihards). So, we decided she needed a new one. I am a huge Harry Potter fan so we threw around the names Luna, Hermione, Minerva, and Lily. But after 24 hours of getting to know her, we were sure she needed a name that represented her brave and feisty nature so we decided on Tonks. And since her purebred doggy brother has a fancy long name we decided to not stop there. She is officially (in our home) The Ministry of Magic's Bravest Nymphadora "Tonks". And it fits her well!

No space is left undiscovered; no challenge is too big. Tonks is fearless and brave---even in the presence of our neighbor's 70lbs pit bull mix (who seems more scared of her!). I often remind her of how lucky she is to have picked humans that love and understand cats, because she's an "advanced cat owner" type of cat for sure. We bought her a 7 foot tall cat tree to give her climbing opportunities and to satisfy her natural arboreal nature.

Currently I am training her to walk on a leash---even though that makes me the weird cat lady---because it's clear she wants to go outside for more adventure and stimulation. She is extremely bright and has even started to "sit" on command (I use clicker training). Though it may seem like extra work it isn't. Just like training my dog, we both get so much enjoyment out of the process and it's more fun than work. And don't get me wrong, Tonks is a very sweet little girl too. She loves to be a "scarf cat" whenever we are lying on the couch, she greets us when we come home and she loves to play with her doggy brother. She has been so much fun and has added more fun and happiness to our home. Tonks is our brave, sweet and clever little girl and I am so thankful that she picked us. Thank you for all that you guys do and for taking such good care of her!
