Bisou's Journey

Living among filth, in a home with 87 other cats, Puck (now called Bisou) had little food, no clean water, and no veterinary care for the first four years of his life.

The HSHV Cruelty and Rescue Team removed all of the cats after a tip led them to a home located in Ypsilanti.

All of the cats suffered from upper respiratory illness of varying degrees and were timid around people. For the first few weeks, they received much needed medical care. Bisou was left with a chronic eye condition. He will need to be treated and watched for the rest of his life.

A longtime supporter of HSHV and animal advocate, Susan Blake of Ann Arbor, who had recently lost one of her feline companions, met Bisou about a month after he'd received medical care at HSHV. It was love at first sight.

Bisou really enjoys the company of his cat companions and finds joy in playing. It's almost as if he did not know what cat toys were, but that quickly changed in his new home.

This little grey and white cat is also affectionate, outgoing and a real joy to be around. Long gone are the days of hiding in fear.

"Bisou's story is a lesson for all of us," says Deb Kern, HSHV Marketing Director. "You can never judge what an animal will be like in a caring home. They might present themselves as timid, shy or scared in the shelter, but when they are given a second chance in a caring home, many flourish! In this case the real Bisou  found his place and blossomed into a wonderful cat companion."

After four long years of not knowing true love and care, "Bisou's Journey Home" is complete.

Please remember to visit a shelter or rescue when you are considering a new pet companion. 4 to 6 million homeless pets will enter a shelter across the U.S. this year alone.
