We Love Peanut Butter

A sweet companion!

Today marks the one year anniversary of our adoption of Peanut Butter. We came to HSHV last year with three children determined to find a dog to complete our family. My husband was...less determined. We met a few sweet guys and gals before my husband noticed Peanut Butter at the end of the row. He wouldn't make eye contact with anyone and hadn't made a peep in the entire hour we had been there. My husband said, "I think we need to meet Peanut Butter." When they brought him into the Meet and Greet room this pitbull sat quaking with fear, he was afraid of us! By the time we returned from a quick walk around the yard with him, he was ours. It was a huge leap of faith for a dog found walking the highway alone and who arrived at HSHV with some battle scars, but he gave us a chance anyway.

Peanut Butter has been a faithful and gentle companion for us all. He greets us at the door when we come home, is a complete gentleman in our home and only asks for belly rubs and reassurance. He goes to doggy day care a few days a week and has to be in the yard with the smaller dogs because the big dogs play too rough for our gentle giant. Our pitbull is happiest romping with the little dogs and puppies.

We are so lucky that Peanut Butter chose us to be his family. We are happy every single day that he did. Thank you for uniting us, HSHV! We didn't know what we were missing before Peanut Butter found us.
