Happy tale for (Huck) Finn

Happy tale for (Huck) Finn

No more pancake dog!

One day, I went to volunteer at HSHV, and my life was changed forever. I walked a few dogs before coming upon a very scrawny, shy boy named Huck. When I entered his cage to pet him, he rested his head on my lap and was quite content just to sit there being pet. As it turned out, this sweet guy with the big soulful eyes had an advanced case of heartworm, and had been a stray for most of his life. He had just been returned by a family and was terrified to be at the shelter, where he had earned himself a reputation as a pancake - when scared, he would flatten himself to the ground and refuse to move. I fell in love and brought him home the next day!

Fast-forward a few months, and we are happily pancake free! Huck now goes by Finn and is the sweetest, happiest, most mellow dog. We determined that he is a lab/coonhound mix, and he has put on about twelve pounds and finished his heartworm treatment. Finn loves nothing more than being pet - by Mom and Dad, friends, strangers. He loves running with Mom and going to the dog park, where he's learning to play with his new friends and enjoy the little things he never could as a stray. He loves his family, and proceeds to charm every person he meets!
