New Dog Training Classes Offered at HSHV

Classes promote positive, trusting relationships and effective communication practices between you and your canine pal!

shepherd1HSHV offers affordable dog training classes for every level. Our classes use positive reinforcement to teach dogs how to problem solve and make good decisions on their own.

Our classes teach more than just a set of standard commands like "sit" and "down". In class, we simulate real world experiences and teach you the best and most effective ways to help your dog become well-mannered and obedient dog you've always imagined he/she could be. All of our classes are designed to  teach your dog those important basic commands and behaviors, but more importantly, teaches you how to apply them to real world situations such as having guests over, prepping dinner, going to the vet’s office, getting your dog to come instead of chasing a squirrel and more.  Plus, all proceeds from HSHV dog training classes go right back to care for homeless, abused and injured animals in our shelter.

"We've revamped our classes to help us meet the needs of all dogs," said Katelin Thomas, HSHV Dog Behavior Specialist. "We receive hundreds of calls each year from community members who want to learn how to effectively train their dogs and it was a priority for us to develop and a ciriculum that will support the loving, responsible care of dogs so that families will think of their canine pals as a treasured family member."
