volunteer_dogIf you are interested in making a difference in the community and helping animals, you should consider becoming a volunteer at the Humane Society of Huron Valley.

Whether you’re a dog person, a cat person, or just someone wanting to get out and meet new people and lend a hand, the opportunities and volunteer jobs at HSHV could be the most rewarding thing you’ll do in 2014.

We promise to make your experience meaningful and you will not find more grateful recipients of your work then a homeless pet. Working side by side with other individuals that share the same compassion and commitment often results in life-long friendships. We know that many of our volunteers, who meet right here, have developed and kept friendships that continue on even when their volunteer time ends.

If finding that time in your busy schedule to be physically at the shelter is not possible, maybe you could become a foster home for animals that need short-term care outside of the animal shelter. Last year alone we had 1,500 placements of homeless animals into HSHV foster homes. We are always in need of families and people that can make a commitment to in-home care.

Our volunteers are our most important asset. The work you do for our animals, in the shelter, and for our programs are invaluable. Each and every day, a volunteer helps to improve the life of an animal here at HSHV. Our volunteers help over 13,000 animals a year through shelter cleaning, administrative support, foster care, dog walking, cat comforting, and many other opportunities.

Please join us in our commitment to finding permanent homes for the animals in our care.
