Mittens and Dimples come home

I grew up with cats and I was eager to have one of my own, but I wanted to be ready. I knew I was when I saw Mittens (then known as Prince) standing on top of a scratching post in the kitty condos meowing desperately at my boyfriend and I as we decided if wanted to take one home today. He seemed to be saying "I'm here! Come in! Play with me! Take me home!" He called to us until we did just that.
[One look at his Michigan shaped polydactyl toes and my boyfriend exclaimed "Can we call him Mittens?" It stuck.]

Mittens adjusted well to life with us, but I noticed one small problem. He would often go up to mirrors and try to play or snuggle with his reflection. Worried that he might be lonely going from a multi-cat environment to having an apartment to himself, we went back to HSHV "just to see".

Ella Bella, the black and white cat with spots on her cheek, that would become our Dimples was wrestling with her brother when we walked in. I was loathe to separate littermates, but her brother was already being adopted. I couldn't bear to leave the little girl, now playing with her own tail alone.

Mittens and Dimples are now fast friends. They play, snuggle, watch the birds, and try to fit themselves both into my lap together. The only thing that can get between them is the laser pointer.
