Rocky now Bubbles

I was looking for a rabbit to bond with my current rabbit, Buddy, and after almost a year of searching, we finally found Bubbles! They bonded within a week and are now inseparable.

For almost a year, I was searching for the perfect rabbit to bond with my rabbit at home, Buddy, a 2 year old Holland lop. Multiple sources told me that rabbits, while they do great with unlimited attention from their human owners, they truly thrive once they have a bunny friend. After visiting countless shelters, some multiple times, I saw Bubbles, a 4 year old Netherland Dwarf. She was such a sweetheart coming up to me immediately, and not to mention, absolutely gorgeous! I fell in love and immediately adopted her.

Once I took her home, I had to go through the process of bonding her and Buddy. Needless to say, I was a little worried that it wouldn't go well as the vet had told me that some rabbits simply do not like other rabbits - however, she urged me to be patient, and that eventually, most rabbits bond. After a week of swapping litter boxes, the two finally met. Buddy was a little territorial, stomping his feet, but Bubbles was so outgoing, she kept trying to be Buddy's friend. After a week of bunny dates, she finally won him over.

They are now inseparable; I often see them grooming each other, each nudging the other, demanding to be groomed. They are always within 5 feet of each other and truly blissful in their relationship together. They like tossing pine cones to each other and when they are taken outside to the Diag for their play time when the weather is nice, if one hops up to someone wanting to be pet, the other rushes over too. Seeing them interact with each other is so heartwarming and I now see that there are some things that I simply couldn't give Buddy... but thankfully, Bubbles can.
